The West and North wings are contained in a single instance, and are connected via The Athenaeum. At the center of Dire Maul, connecting the three wings, is an open plaza populated by ogres and containing a special PvP arena. This arena, consisting of a rectangular pit with entrances and exits on the east and west sides, is similar to the Gurubashi Arena in Stranglethorn Vale , in that "free for all" PvP combat is permitted within its confines.

These mobs drop BoE rare items. In addition to permitting access to the other wings of the instance, the Crescent Key allows characters to enter Dire Maul East via a short-cut at the Lariss Pavillion , located immediately north of Camp Mojache.

Dire Maul East has been taken over by the nefarious Alzzin the Wildshaper , a satyr who has corrupted the Fruit of Fertility tree so that it produces vile [ Felvine Shards ]. Alzzin has attracted all manner of corrupted plant life, satyrs, mages , and demons to his cause. The entire district is overgrown with crazed plant life.

Dire Maul East is considered the easiest of the three wings and requires no key to enter. Dire Maul West is haunted by the ghosts and skeletons of deceased Highborne, and is home to a variety of arcane creatures, including ancients and mana surges.

Yet the most notable resident of Dire Maul West is Immol'thar , a demon imprisoned on this plane by Prince Tortheldrin. Millennia ago, the Prince, aided by his Shen'dralar loyalists, constructed five mystical pylons to bind Immol'thar so that they could siphon his energy to sustain their immortality. Warlocks must go to this prison and summon their dreadsteed for the quest [60D] Dreadsteed of Xoroth. Alliance paladins must slay him as part of the quest [60D] Ancient Equine Spirit in order to obtain their charger.

Dire Maul North is considered the hardest, or, at the very least, the most interesting and unusual wing of Dire Maul. Where is the entrance to Dire Maul? How do you get to Dire Maul West? Wait for the first patrol to pass to your right and run down the left ledge of the ramp slightly to your left.

Jump down to the back wall turn left while on the ledge so that you are facing the top of the ramp , and jump slightly to the right.

Follow the edge around to the front of the library doors and you're in. Running straight through the garden or trying to stealth through will fail, you'll just end up running back to your corpse. Comment by After last boss in DM east a door will open to a small cave. In the cave you will find Rich Thorium vein with a huge drop rate for an arcane crystal. At least 1 of the veins should have an arcane crystal.

So you if really need 1 and you are low on money, go to DM east kill the last boss and you will have a big chance to get 1. Dire Maul is one of the best instances in the game, designed very well, it's challenging for the right level players, and it's a load of fun. Comment by MAD1Unknown I have been farming Dire Maul rare spawns on Maelstrom server for about two months straight now, it is very profitable as many of the rare drops are still worth a good amount of gold.

Instead of posting individually on each of the rare spawns, I decided to post here to clear a few things up. This is the same as the Gurubashi Arena in STV, you can kill anybody inside regardless of faction, as long as they are not in your group. What this means to you: If you come across somebody already killing a rare spawn, just look at it as an opportunity The tag becomes yours, and the player cannot corpse run back in time to do anything about it. Next we need to identify our rare spawns. How do I know this? Well I killed Skarr and logged out at The Maul, and after logging in 10 minutes later I found The Razza waiting peacefully for his death. On another occasion, I arrived at The Maul where Razza and Mushgog were both already spawned at the same time. As you may have gathered, this shows that the three bosses are on seperate spawn timers that are not related to eachother at all.

As for the individual spawn timers, I cannot say exactly how long it is possible for one boss to spawn back to back, but the closest I've seen was about 17 hours. Well this is becoming a bit lengthy, so I'll just leave it at that. I plan on making guides for each boss, so look for them in the next for weeks.

I'll also post a comment on Griniblix the Spectator, I'm currently collecting information to try and see if the things he shouts have any relation with the bosses that spawn next, or the time when they spawn. I am a protection warrior with decent gear and i do the instance in like minutes and get between g per full boss run So if u want money, this instance and Stratholme are the best to farm at lvl Comment by the back door to the east instance at the Lariss Pavilion, loc.

Comment by jaxsonbateman Back on my 60 human paladin, I very rarely ran Dire Maul The loot from this instance - particularly the healing gear - was ahead of its time. A lot of this gear has near-perfect itemisation by pre-BC standards. The gloves were near perfect for any shaman, druid or pally, and the ring had excellent itemisation for a priest or druid.

For other roles, Evil Eye Pendant is a good example - while not providing any stam, that's an awesome level of avoidance on a piece that doesn't waste any stat points. My tactic is to go straight to the upstairs and kill Illyanna. Jump downstairs and attack Tendris. All of the Ironbark protectors from the first room will rush in and join the battle also some lesser elites might engage. So be ready for some AoE. The green drops from Illyanna and Tendris can be disenchanted to Greater Eternal Essence or Illusion Dust which sell for a fair amount on my server 40g Essence, g Dust.
