No money in BMX skateparks. The people that ride usually are kids who barely have enough money to afford a bike, or a skateboard, or a scooter, let alone spend money to ride in a building for a few hours. Plus New York City real estate is so expensive. Why is that, because we are geniuses? No, because we are the only idiots who decided to do it in NYC. I do carpentry as my income.
Getting robbed. We got robbed twice by the same kid. We re-stocked on everything, and a month later then he breaks in again. Getting sued. A kid comes here, hits the box jump, breaks his ankle, and falls. We tell him we gotta call the ambulance.
His mom comes picks him up, and a week later we get a lawsuit in the mail. We make this place for everyone, and they are trying to take advantage. This park has something for everyone. This skate park is awesome and includes all the things skateboarders want in one location.
This huge park has lots of cool features and will surely impress your kids. Skateboarding lessons are offered through the Monon Center at this skate park. This skate park is connected to the Historic Greenway Trail system and has several elements for budding skateboarders.

Skaters need a healthy relationship with someone who cares about them and spends time with them. Most of all they need a relationship with Jesus Christ. Building a skate park is not the way to accomplish that, but here are 3 simple ways to start an action sports ministry in your community.
Was always into the idea, and was very sad to see it go under where I live. Miss the people who taught me to skate and see jesus in a different perspective. Best of luck to you guys though. As I am running a Christian indoor skatepark, I have to agree this article is spot on. I am looking for suggestions on how to maintain what was already in place when I took over.
We have a very high turn over rate amongst the leaders alot of whom are called to bigger things. Any suggestions on how to retain help? Jason that is a great question with many possible answers. Some are just not called to do action sports ministry.
Some are not disciplined enough to pursue their calling. Motivating staff can be very difficult when resources are scarce.
We have a tough time with this too but the best way we have found to create loyalty among staff and volunteers is to invest into them personally, professionally, spiritually and financially in ways that empower and edifying their calling to action sports ministry.
